There is a French saying which expresses a sentiment "the more that changes, the more it's the same thing" (Merriam-Webster's online dictionary). Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose is frequently shortened to plus ça change. I guess we could throw in one of our good old American standbys, as well...history repeats itself. Either would suffice in President-elect Obama's choices of Washington insiders (to surround him) thus far. I'm still waiting for the "WOW-factor" to present itself. Merely having a discussion with Senator John McCain failed to provide it. Now, put him in the cabinet, or leave Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State and you've got something! Every time someone enters the White House they do so with certain guidelines in place. It is how one carries out these day-to-day tasks that truly sets one apart. So far we have an incoming president who owes so many favors that he can not bring himself to change. Just remember one thing. You owe no greater favor than to the people you now represent. Sir, if you do right by the American people you will not only seek another term, you'll see another term...in the White House.
Note: A politician owes no greater favor than to the people he/she represents.
May God bless America...and may America deserve it!
