My Only Concern With The Blagojevich Appointment Is The Race Card

Gov. Rod Blagojevich (Illinois) named former state Attorney General Roland Burris to the vacated U.S. Senate seat, previously held by President-elect Obama, supposedly stunning lawmakers in Washington. Now, Senate Democrats are vowing to block the appointment. I'm sorry...why is the behavior of this "alleged" felon such a surprise? He has been anything but predictable up to this point so why should Congress expect anything but "chess master" tactics? Underestimation is a poor excuse for this crowd. When in power, do as the powerful do.
We get little comfort from the Illinois Secretary of State's refusal to certify Roland Burris' appointment. It's off to the Supreme Court we go and, barring any dirt of significance, the likelihood of Burris' greenlight is quite good; I expect he will become Illinois' replacement senator. Burris said he has no involvement in the charges against the governor and asked voters to have the "same faith and trust in me as they have in the past." This next part is what made me uncomfortable. U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush blatantly played the race card. It was not necessary and it is that mentality...the one's caucasians are not supposed to have...that diminished the status of Roland Burris. Burris, 71, served as state comptroller and made history as the first black to be elected to a statewide office. That, Mr. Rush, speaks volumes.

Note: If the United States was split into six regions...which country would you trust to be your caretaker? United we stand and divided we are conquered.

Could Hope Be On The Horizon Via Herman Cain?

After being literally slammed by the events of 2008, all I wanted for Christmas was some "hope" for 2009. Well, it may just be that it is on the horizon, via Herman Cain, who is starting an Intelligent Thinkers Movement! He, incidentally, was one of my top three picks for President of the United States (2008). Sadly, he did not run. This radio talk-show host graduated from Morehouse College (1967) and received his Master of Science Degree from Purdue University (1971). Excerpts from Mr. Cain's website/radio show are written below:

The voice of “we the people” has been hijacked by partisan politics, government bureaucrats, and the influence of money on elections and legislation. To take back our government, we must be able to un-elect members of Congress on a timely basis, and dramatically influence their decisions while they are in office...We don’t need all 306 million citizens to be successful. We only need 100,000 voters per Congressional district for them to “see the light”. “We the people” can and will take back our government and the strategic direction of this Nation. It is our right and responsibility...This is NOT a republican, democrat, libertarian, conservative, liberal, or progressives movement. This is a “we the people” movement. According to Mr. Cain,"When They Feel the Heat, They Will See the Light."

Please check out his website:

Lord John Dalberg-Acton once said, "Liberty, next to religion has been the motive of good deeds and the common pretext of crime..." Most politicians started out with the right intentions, however, somewhere along the way they got derailed. Their sense of right was overridden by their sense importance. Power replaced passion. Mainstreet was forgotten in Washington until election time when scraps of promises and propriety could get them elected one-more-time with the right "spin". We the People are just as much to blame since we have allowed ourselves to become too complacent, self-absorbed, and apathetic to get involved until something like the WALLSTREET FIASCO hits us right where it hurts...the money belt. Now, do we really want to sit idly by and wait for the next wave of doom or do we want to send a message to our "leaders" in Washington to do their jobs honorably? The choice has always been within our grasp. It has been the right organizational skills we lacked. Herman Cain is reaching out and he has the "know-how". Let's give him a shot!

Note: A few strategically placed "space heaters" can cause political illumination...and eviction.

Defending Her Honor...Is This The Tactic For Getting Caroline Kennedy Into The Senate?

First let's check out the forged letter, supposedly written by the mayor of Paris, condemning (yes, I checked the spelling) Ms. Kennedy's bid for a U.S. Senate seat. How uniquely timed was this blunder of professional journalism? After all, it "violated the paper's standards and procedures for publishing signed letters" (AP). In Hollywood, any publicity (good or bad) is good. And isn't this a two-for-one deal? First, we get to become enraged that a foreign politician would take the time to stick his nose in where it doesn't belong. Shock and horror reaches yet another crescendo when we find out the letter is...a lie. No paper worth its salt would publish a letter slamming a Kennedy without checking with the MAYOR OF PARIS' office. Let's move on to the "Palinization" equation. Governor Sarah Palin and Ms. Caroline Kennedy (Schlossberg) are not sharing an "equal sign" any time soon. Sarah Palin has rolled up her sleeves and proven herself in the political arena. As I said in an earlier blog: For fifty-some years Caroline Kennedy has lived in a world distanced from the political arena and the "scrutinizing" press. As an adult it was by choice. Aside from speaking at the 2000 Democratic Convention and being a part of Obama's vice-presidential search team (FOX News) her activities have been restricted largely to noble writings, board positions, and educational fund raising. If one were to take the "Kennedy lineage" out of the picture, would we be looking at her in the political-running for the New York U.S. Senate seat? As they say in haven't paid your dues! How long is this Kennedy birthright mentality going to last? These are serious times and we should not expect a self-imposed political wall flower to, all of a sudden, become the belle of the ball!

Note: If a person becomes full of himself then there is much which had to be dumped along the make room.

The Clinton Foundation Donor List Raises Eyebrows And Questions

Now, I know we have been talking in the billions of dollars range recently and that the mere mention of an amount smaller is...well...seemingly insignificant. STOP! Let's get back to reality, shall we? The Clinton Foundation Donor List (that would be "major donor" list) has finally been released. Americans had some concerns over possible conflict of interest scenarios should Hillary Clinton become the next Secretary of State. Pretty much it would be a case of America's interests versus Bill Clinton's international business and fundraising deals. In the "Greater than $25,000,000" catagory it sports...The Children's Investment Fund Foundation. My questions: How much greater? Shouldn't a former U.S. President decline that type of money for a mere library when the foundation is geared toward financing programs for underprivileged children? NBC's Domenico Montanaro wrote, "There's very little information on the London-based group's Web site as to the source of the funds." Why is that? The press will have a field day (along with other amateur and specialized sleuths) digging for the dirt. Time will tell. I suggest you read Mr. Montanaro's report at the following website:

Moving right along...Former President Bill Clinton's donor list is frocked with donations from foreign governments and business interests which could (possibly) influence Hillary's dealings with the donor countries, while carrying out America's policies as Secretary of State. Maybe we should have an understudy to the Secretary of State position, should Senator Clinton have to recuse herself due to conflict of interest occurrences. Unfortunately, that would be quite a few times. Maybe we should keep the senate seat open should she have to slide back into it. After all, didn't she suggest that she was happy just being a senator from the great state of New York?

Note: The higher one ascends in politics, the lower the expectations of full disclosure.

Maybe Blagojevich Can Stay In Office...Helping The Mail Clerks

Attorney General Lisa Madigan has met with the Illinois Supreme Court and received a surprising and disappointing refusal to hear a challenge to the fitness of Gov. Blagojevich to hold office. Even more frustrating was the news being delivered without comment. After all, one can not correct one's approach if one does not know what needs tweaking. Now, I am going to have to side with the court on this one...partly. She argues that his legal and political problems are keeping him from "performing his duties". Rest assured that the Governor has never been so focused on doing the right thing since he took office. He is, I'm sure, quite busy dotting his i's, crossing his t's, and covering his tracks to minimize the damage...which is probably not going to be totally possible since he has been a very bad boy. Additionally, the Attorney General argued that his deeds amounted to a disability. I would prefer the word liability. Something that, or in this case "someone who" holds one (or an entire state) back; a handicap. Currently, he could still fill the Obama senate seat. Wouldn't it be wild if he put a Republican in that spot? I do concur that his authority should be stripped until he has had his day(s) in court. "It is imperative that we begin to restore the people's confidence in their government," said Madigan. When a public official is being investigated for indecorous acts (AKA acts of impropriety) he should definitely the mailroom and help the clerks. I am assuming he is still drawing his paycheck...which is tax payer generated.

Note: If the courts serve a "trifled truffle", which is impossible to swallow, WE THE PEOPLE need to scrutinize the cooks.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Does Caroline Kennedy Expect To Win On The "Birthright" Theme?

For fifty-some years Caroline Kennedy has lived in a world distanced from the political arena and the "scrutinizing" press. As an adult it was by choice. Americans (myself included) were surprised when she endorsed President-elect Obama...sort of. Her Uncle, Ted Kennedy, was struck by a medical condition and she was the likely high visibility Kennedy (especially since JFK was her father) to help "seal the deal". Aside from speaking at the 2000 Democratic Convention and being a part of Obama's vice-presidential search team (FOX News) her activities have been restricted largely to noble writings, board positions, and educational fund raising. Oh, yeah...she was also in 1994 the honorary chair of the American Ballet Theatre! If one were to take the "Kennedy name" out of the equation, would we be looking at her in the political-running for the New York U.S. Senate seat? How long is this Kennedy birthright mentality going to last? Was the Obama endorsement her ticket to ride or appease? These are serious times and we should not expect a self-imposed political wall flower to, all of a sudden, become the belle of the ball!

Check out this link to see the qualifications of Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Cuomo.

Note: If a rose smells as sweet by any other name, shouldn't a candidate's qualifications be...well, you get my point.

I Wish You A Merry Christmas...And A Hope-filled New Year

Now, I know there are thousands of people out there who cringe at the sights and sounds of the (politically correct) Holiday Season. I, for one, simply don't care. Just how many good-will gestures and charities have been rallied around atheism (or fence-straddling agnosticism)? Whether it be for the "Cause" or the "Claus", businesses thrive on the yearly revenue. Joy from viewing events, receiving tokens, or creating memories at Christmas time is unmeasurable. People stand a little closer and hope shines a little brighter. This year we could all use pick-me-ups. Whether they are spawned from Christmas lights, church services, songs of happiness, or presents under the tree, we need a rallying cry...MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Note: We have got to start trusting our own instincts when we can no longer trust our leaders. When we can no longer trust our leaders...we need to replace them.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Should Mitt Romney Be The Car Czar?

Former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, has some inherent qualities and inherited wisdom from his father, George Romney, who served as chairman of American Motors. Gov. Romney (Republican) is a Michigan native who supports the decision for Congress to resist the automakers' appeals for federal assistance...which was earmarked in October "solely" to help financial institutions. According to former Governor Romney, "They basically came to Washington and said give us a check so we can continue to fund business as usual." So far the White House has no expectations of a Monday announcement offering a dime to automakers, who suffer from self inflicted casualities. Still the UAW shows a stubborn streak which clearly reflects how out of touch they are with the overall economic crisis America faces. They don't feel the need to give up power or make concessions while they have senators like Senator Debbie Stabenow (Dem. Michigan) who thinks Republican leaders in the Senate do not want an agreement. I find it unfathomable that senators can not see that spending billions of dollars on bad investments with little accountibility is not a good thing. When the Car Czar cometh let's hope he/she has integrity, automaker know-how, and wisdom. I still think that no one person should be in charge of money in the billions, however, I'd sure feel less apprehension if Mitt went to Motown.

Note: It is never okay to repeat a decision if it was a bad one the first time.

Reader Comment Segment: My Question...Not My Blog

I know that the original term GRANDFATHER CLAUSE was not used for my question's purpose. It had to do with slave suppression and voting. -Fast forward- According to The Free Dictionary by Farlex (legal section) this is one of the current definitions for being "grandfathered in". 1) a clause in a statute or zoning ordinance (particularly a city ordinance) which permits the operator of a business or a land owner to be exempt from restrictions on use if the business or property continues to be used as it was when the law was adopted. Upon passage of the statute or regulation, the specific property may be referred to as "grandfathered in."

This is my question. Wouldn't public Christmas decorations and mentions of God be "grandfathered in" even on government land or in government buildings, which are actually owned by the taxpayers?

I'd love to hear your comments...LET'S HEAR SOME CHATTER OUT THERE!

Can We Blame Bush's Automaker Continuance On The Full Moon?

Tonight's full moon will be the largest one exhibited this year due to its orbit, which is at the closest distance to Earth. Unfortunately, many scientists feel the frequency of bizarre behavior will probably not be statistically substantiated. Well, there goes President Bush's alibi for attempting to override the Senate (which is representing the wishes of the people). This is yet another bipartisan example of shooting from the hip. Washington clings to the Constitution when it suits them. WE THE PEOPLE had better get a copy of it, read it, and promote it...while we still have it.

According to Judge Andrew Napolitano: Bailouts violate the Equal Protection doctrine because the Congress can’t fairly pick and choose who to bail out and who to let expire; they violate the General Welfare Clause because they benefit only a small group and not the general public; they violate the Due Process Clause because they interfere with contracts already entered into; and they turn the public treasury into a public trough. Worse still, Congress lacks the power to let someone else decide how to spend the peoples’ money...This delegation of power to the secretary directly violates a basic principle of constitutional law: Delegated powers cannot be delegated away. The Constitution delegates to the Congress the power to write all federal laws specifically related to spending, to the president the power to enforce those laws (and he must spend as the Congress ordains), and to the courts the power to interpret the laws (and they usually stay away from issues of spending). The Congress can no more delegate to the Secretary of the Treasury the power to decide how to spend billions than the president could delegate to the Congress his power to appoint the Secretary.

Thank you Judge for articulating the crux of the matter. When we play games, we have rules. If we violate the rules, we are kicked out. When we play politics, we have laws. If we violate the laws...we are kicked election time. Unfortunately, that may be too late. Is there any legal eagle out there willing to take on the case of Congress vs.The Nation? Your contingency fee would be in the billions! Your evidence of wrong doing would be substantiated in the United States Constitution. Any takers?

Note: If our pillars of society crumble then we are left without sound leadership; everyone speaks, nobody listens, and anarchy prevails.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Senator Bob Corker Offers An Alternative To The Current Automaker Plan...After The Filibuster

At least some of the senators are "getting it"...from their constituents. It's a double-meaning message which not only says WE THE PEOPLE do not want the automaker bailout, in its current form, but also that WE THE PEOPLE are tired of sending spokespersons to Washington who have "hearing" problems. Let's face it, the inevitable downsizing of the U.S. automakers is coming. I had much rather see them face the restructuring music now, under Chapter 11 guidelines, than later after billions more taxpayer dollars have been spent. WE THE PEOPLE get no satisfaction knowing the money comes from the pot rather than the kettle. Now, some are concerned because of the loss of jobs. This too must come to pass. Think of the amount of people who will experience job losses if the they completely fail, due to denial of the need to restructure and the need to get the UAW off their backs. It's almost like they have grown accustom to the UAW appendage and will truly mourn its amputation. The United Auto Workers are so far not interested in giving more than lip service to the Big-3's plight. Do they not realize that Chapter 11 downsizing for the automakers means size reduction for them, as well? President-elect Obama got his new "title" due to the Unions; Pelosi, Frank, and Reid are also mighty friendly with them. Of course they are singing a song of woe. Republican Senators are the primary cause of the voting block, however, some patriotic Democratic Senators are also seeking amendments to the "handout". Thankfully, the Super-majority did not materialize or we would not have the continuation of the filibuster option which keeps things on an even keel. Republican Senator Bob Corker has proposed an alternative to the current automaker plan. He feels the federal government should loan money to the automakers under certain conditions: General Motors and Chrysler must agree to filing bankruptcy if their debt is not cut by two-third by March 15, 2008; bondholders and unions should agree to take stock in the Big-3 rather than some of the current cash payments owed; additonally, he wants renegotiations of autoworkers' contracts in tandem with pay and benefit adjustments (more in line with foreign automakers' wages). Another Democratic supported amendment would allow tax credits to those who purchased American-made cars. I am so proud of those who are "seeing the light" and acting responsibly. Senators, hold your ground...which is taxpayer generated.

Note: America should not be a salvage yard for the current auto bailout.

Is Governor Blagojevich's Timely Discovery A Smoke Screen?

When a police officer or school teacher is being investigated (to either clear or convict) they are suspended with pay. After all, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I'm having trouble with these high state officials (governors and senators) being caught with their hands in the corruption cookie jar and defiantly shaking their fists at the nation, daring anyone to dethrone them. Believe me, shaming doesn't work on the shameless. They have to have that one last gulp of "power-air" before they drown in their cesspool. President-elect Obama is calling for one Rod Blagojevich (Illinois Governor) to resign following his arrest for...okay, I'll use it... allegedly trying to sell Senator Obama's vacant senate seat. Let's pull him out of the office (by force if necessary), give him a monthly pay check until this whole thing is sorted out, and let the chips fall where they may. Maybe Governor Blagojevich's discovery was just a little timely. He has been under investigation since at least October. Does someone need a smokescreen? We have yet another drama to distract us from the bailout. Don't let that happen!

Sidebar: Although I personally do not think President-elect Obama is in anyway involved, I am a little curious as to the discrepancy between his statement and David Axelrod's. Mr. Axelrod, senior advisor to President-elect Obama, was quoted on November 23rd of this year as follows:
"I know he's talked to the governor, and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." Axelrod has since retracted his earlier remark and replaced it with this one: "I was mistaken. ... They did not then or at any time discuss the subject." I find it difficult to think that a man with his capabilities couldn't make a simple statement without being "mistaken"...maybe I'm mistaken.

Note: The only voice that isn't heard is the one which utters not a word. Speak out America!

This Bailout Will Be A Legacy Left To Several Generations

We have too many distractions in the world today. Multitasking has been taken to a whole new level and we spend our days depending on fortuitous circumstances to acquire the national news necessary to make us informed individuals. WE THE PEOPLE need a plan and it needs to include prioritizing. This “bailout” is not something we can store in short term memory. It's not going away anytime soon and the ramifications will be a legacy left to several generations. Just how many might very well be up to us. While we are juggling busy schedules, gathering information, and trying to find scraps of time for ourselves, remember that being proactive (by staying on our representatives) is one of the few options we still possess. If we don't stay "on task" we can not possibly keep this bailout "on track" and "on budget". Let's give Congress a sense of direction to replace the "hither and thither" we now know existed. They should know that their G.P.S. will come in the form of our V-O-T-E when election time comes around. Hopefully, that will keep them moving in the right direction. We owe it to our great-great grandchildren.

Note: If we can not read the truth then we can not know the truth. With the corruption in the U.S. media today...who will be our Radio Free Europe?

Will Motown Move The White House?

If the Big-3 automakers drew up car plans like the "top Democrats" who drew up a billion dollar financial request for them, no wonder they are in trouble. Put the crayons back in the box and let's get serious! The reception of the draft was less than enthusiastic especially since it didn't reward thriving companies with longer-term federal assistance. According to Dana Perino, White House press secretary, "We'll continue to work with members on both sides of the aisle to achieve legislation that protects the good faith investment by taxpayers." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, ever the optimist (for the bailout) resounded with, "While we take no satisfaction in loaning taxpayer money to these companies, we know it must be done." No, Harry, that isn't exactly right. Haven't you been listening to the majority of Americans who are telling their Congressmen just the opposite? Remember the bankruptcy restructuring "thing" that has been floating over your head like a rain cloud? Now, while you are trying to recall what I'm talking about, Senator Reid, let's talk about the "Car Czar". Haven't we learned anything about a chosen one (or two) and money allocations? That's right, the 700 billion! CHECKS AND BALANCES is a wonderful thing to have in place when that kind of money is being distributed. The "system" is not just for Legislative, Judicial, and Executive Branches anymore. Americans have yet to see the receipts for the bailout. I don't care what party, what creed, or what need exists...nobody acting alone is immune from corruption. Senator George Voinovich (Republican) even has "concerns" about the CZAR. I'm anyone that smart (or wise) all of the time? After all, even King Solomon had some off days.

Is The Only Thing Americans Get To Do Is The Math?

I'm confused. The Automakers-3 wanted 25 billion (at first), now they want 34 billion, and the White House in concert with Congress may give them only 15 billion, from an alternative research and development stash (that few people knew anything about). Let's see...34 billion minus 15 billion is...Yep! It's 19 billion short of the what the Big-3 now wants. And it is also 10 billion short of the now inadequate 25 billion. Can anyone just say "NO" anymore? The bailout money was taxpayer generated and the "energy-efficient" fund was taxpayer generated. It's like telling your children that they can not steal money in the kitchen, but they can in the living room. Evidently, legislation is being drawn up this weekend as a "lifeline" due to Congress stonewalling the release of bailout funds. There is a new twist to any further "magic money". There would be the creation of a trustee or group of industry overseers to assure the money was used for its "intended" purpose. STOP! BACK UP! No one person should be in charge of that large a sum. CHECKS AND BALANCES IS NOT JUST FOR JUDICIAL, LEGISLATIVE, AND EXECUTIVE BRANCHES ANYMORE! Let's move on...but not far. Why in the world wasn't this overseer "group" in place for every single dollar of the bailout money? FAST FORWARD. Bush feels like one of the Big Three might fold due to the economic crisis. Well, pick the one and deny them funding rather than prolong the inevitable. The two left standing should proceed to bankruptcy restructuring and push the UAW back toward its intended purpose...if they can still recall it. But, that's another blog. Congress should continue to hold their ground...which is taxpayer generated.

Note: It is always nicer to recall who you work for than to be reminded.

Americans...Congressmen Are Listening To You Over Automakers

American are getting a little more savvy (financially and politically) thus creating a solidarity of the majority...which apparently is making Congress rethink their support of additional bailout money for the Big-3 automakers. Did they really think driving instead of flying would "bring it home"? Even if Congressional leaders fear the demise of the trio...they fear the extinction of their own careers more. Right now Unions, Pelosi, Reid, and Frank are sweating bullets. I like it!
WE THE PEOPLE are saying enough is enough! Some intelligent comments are coming out of the senate from both parties.

"No thinking person thinks that all three companies can survive, " said Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee.

"In all due respect, folks, I don't think there's faith that the next ... three months will work out given the past history," said Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid continue to press President Bush to extend a portion of the 700 bailout-billion to the no avail.
Barney Frank (Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee) says President-elect Obama is "going to have to be more assertive than he's been." Obama is doing the wise and prudent thing. He is keenly aware that there is only one U.S. President at a time. His time will come...and it is not now. It just may be that the lame duck will bring the automakers' luck... in the form of a bankruptcy revamping. I think Americans will sleep better with that option chosen.

Note: We should be most humble when we are right...but not least active.

If I Were In The Driver's Seat...

If I were in the driver's seat the bailout would go down with these conditions. I think the Detroit merger should be a TRI-MERGER. Let’s temporarily overlook the monopoly status it would create, for the good of the country, and let the three pull ideas necessary to compete with car companies overseas. It should take place under the bankruptcy veil. Of course there would be a date of departure for all three (or just two) to once again be independent. This would allow Unions to take their rightful licks and true attempts at alternative fuels to surface.

Note: Give me the kingdom for a day and let me leave it better, I pray.

Hope Is All Around Us...It's Just Temporarily Downsized

According to Merriam-Webster's online dictionary hope is "to desire with expectation of obtainment". Okay, sometimes things happen beyond our control. This year many things happened (all at once) beyond our control. We felt a little like Biblical Job, waiting for the next bearer of bad news. Are we going to just sit, wringing our hands and be jostled to-and-fro with the waves of change? Not if we have the grit our forefathers possessed. As Americans we have got to be proactive about events which will dramatically effect our lives (and those of generations to come) instead of reactive (after it is too late to do anything about undesirable occurrences). We have been blindsided by Washington, Wall Street, and the media...and we are partially to blame. "Huh?" you say. "Yes!" I say. WE THE PEOPLE are becoming mindless socialists who not only want the government to take care of us, but need the government to take care of us. Thinking is rote. I love Merriam-Webster's definition for this one.

Rote: mechanical or unthinking routine or repetition

Now, work with me on this one. How many hours a week do you spend with a computer, on a cell phone, watching a sporting event, shopping for pleasure, etc. (during your free time)? Let's continue. How many hours a week do you spend reading the news (more than one source), checking the internet for information about questionable activities in Washington (and at home), and talking to your kids about political candidates (with authority and not hearsay)? Even if you did not live back in the time when people gathered around a radio to catch the latest news updates (I didn't, but I'm sure my husband did.) you have surely heard about that type of daily event. Why is it wars, plummeting stocks, or the death of political figures are the only things to slap us into a state of awareness? Well, we were lulled to sleep in our cribs (watching our own personal mobiles) and became trapped in a nightmare. We are definitely going to have difficulty waking up from this one since we are being double-teamed by an economic crisis and the incompetence of those wearing three-piece suits (which I think is actually a smoke screen for funneling money to personal bank accounts, special projects, etc). We are not helpless therefore we are not hopeless. Change your lifestyle America! Question until you are satisfied with the answers...if you don't understand the answers, then chances are they are the wrong ones. Hope is all around's just temporarily downsized.

Note: We need to diversify our activities to include things relevant to recovery in America.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

When Is It Okay To Break A Promise...Politically?

I have been told by children that certain bits of information could not be divulged because they gave their word...they promised they wouldn't tell. Now, I can certainly respect that. However, if a child is withholding information which could save someone's life, prevent catastrophe, or end abuse I would say that the child had an obligation to tell, even if it meant the end of a friendship. No "oath taker" is a true friend if he/she is able to look into the coffin of the "oath maker" (and their demise could have been prevented) right? Tomorrow is a new day. We will see if the U.S. Senate run-off, which took place in Georgia today, will bring victory to the GOP candidate thus creating a buffer to shield against the Democratic prevention of any Republican filibuster endeavors. Sixty or more seats (of the possible 100) block Republicans from "fillibustering". Fortunately, I have heard Democrats voice concerns over the fading CHECKS AND BALANCE SYSTEM, which our Founding Fathers built in as a fail-safe against failure. Maybe they will vote Republican this one time. Currently the Democrats have 56 seats and are awaiting the outcome of the Georgia election and a recount in Minnesota. With 56 Senate seats to their credit, plus two independents who have "promised" to vote with Democrats, the nation is literally on thin ice. I am going back to the child's "promise" addressed earlier in this blog. If a child is able to break a promise for a "greater good", I can think of no better one for adults (or Independent United States Senators) than to save America from entombment. Let's hope the buffer grows by two...when it is crunch time!

Note: No "oath taker" is a true friend if he/she is able to look into the coffin of the "oath maker"...and their demise could have been prevented.

U.S. Congressman, Louie Gohmert, Formulates Bill To Let Americans Dole Out The $350 Billion

Louie Gohmert is a United States Congressman and, as an American, just as frustrated with the mishandling of the Henry Paulson $700 Billion. I know I have not seen any receipts for the first half of the loot which magically appears in the bank accounts of a favored few. Congressman Gohmert is fighting to stop further culpably negligent spending with the last remaining half of the Paulson Billions. I liken it to someone going to Vegas and spending money like water because, win or lose, it isn't costing that person a dime. Think of the high! I digress. I did not realize Santa Claus lived in Texas. Ghomert (Santa) is preparing a I declare a "Tax Holiday" for the months of January and February 2009, courtesy of the remaining, American made $350 Billion. The holiday would be from personal income and FICA taxes. This true "maverick" is gaining many supporters to include Newt Gingrich, who felt it should go longer than the proposed two months. Gohmert stated, "By instating a temporary tax holiday, we could electrify the American economy and provide overwhelming relief to taxpayers, all for less than the cost of the current failed Paulson-Pelosi bailout system." Now, I don't want to panic anyone, however, the window of opportunity is small. Please go to the website is a quick read. When Congress returns to consider the automakers' bailout it is a distinct possibility that Nancy Pelosi will not allow the bill to come to the floor...without a push from WE THE PEOPLE to the White House. Contact your Congressmen and President Bush now. Go to (I don't care if you don't like Neal) and scroll down to the line which reads: E-mail your congressman. Click on your state located on the United States map and phone numbers (along with e-mail addresses) will appear beside your Congressmen and Senators. Let's give a little "Power to the People". Now that would be a change!

Note: I know we are not suppose to sweat the small stuff, but this bailout should have us sweating bullets!

Say What You Mean And Mean What You Say...Cliché ?

Political rhetoric is becoming cliché. I guess if politicians say something often and with authority they feel it will create a sudden immunity to the pain caused by the events described. 'Too big to fail' has to be one of my most favorite sayings to loathe. What they are really saying is the failure of these incompetently run institutions would be a miscarriage of justice because they have been around a long time, and sucked so many people into investing in them, that it is a tradition we can not possibly give up (especially since they have lined so many politicians' pockets). Why don't we just divide-up a failed "whatever" and throw a little healthy competition into the mix. The departments who do well get to keep up the good work. Those who can not grasp basic business concepts, and continue on a downward spiral, will be allowed to implode. Surely there is someway to dissect them. 'Slippery Slope' weighs in at number two. If one is on a slope, with very little likelihood of traction, one should merely take another course. However, politicians feel it is their own extreme sporting event with one "twist". The spectators (Americans) are the ones who feel the pain if anyone falls...or any business fails. 'Wall Street versus Main Street' could more accurately be conveyed as 'Wall Street and Washington versus Main Street'. We are not privy to insider secrets, dealings, or alliances. Our inclusion comes only when we are on the brink of disaster and then it is too late. We are expected to quietly wait for our fate and applaud any scrap of recovery. Congress can not point fingers or scramble fast enough when the shadows have been illuminated. Barney Frank, the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, has exhibited incompetence and should be asked, no told, to step down immediately. There are only two possibilities for him. Either the job was too big for him to handle or he refused to handle the job. I just said what I meant and meant what I said...

Note: When an orator can no longer distinguish between truth and lies it is time he or she defers to silence.

Let's Not Give Obama A "Time-Out" Before He Has Had "Time-In"

Times are tough. Some are of our own making and some are courtesy of the misdeeds of others. President Obama is going to have to work in a bipartisan manner, not entirely to appease the opposition groups, but rather to save the nation economically, militarily, and ethically. Every step he takes will be scrutinized by the nation, the world, and history. Surely every American is aware that both major parties have people who fall into categories of poor, adequate, above average, and superior. During these tumultuous times isn't it showing wisdom to pick from the "cream of the crop"? We need some continuity starting off in this new administration. It instills confidence in the anxious world. Let his choices falter, in any way, and then we (myself included) can cast aspersions. I'm not crazy about all of President-elect Obama's choices thus far...but with most of them I can understand his reasoning. Some say he is already "testing the loyalty of his base". To this I can only say...Stop acting like "only children". When he became President-elect he broadened his base to include all Americans. It is my understanding that the current United States Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, will be asked to stay on for at least another year. It is a prudent step on the part of President-elect Obama. The world is too volatile to allow "on-the-job" training. There have been others who have caused concerns among liberals, as well. True, the clock is ticking and his time is coming. But let's not give him a "time-out" before he has had "time-in".

Note: There is a problem with judging if the criteria is always changing.

Happy Thanksgiving 2008 - 3 Shorts & A Note

Hillary is still playing the waiting game for the Secretary of State position. At least she has a deadline. She can continue up until President-elect Obama makes his announcement of the rest of his important posts. Does she think trying to steal his thunder will make her a thunderess? Can you say Drama Queen? If she can not make a decision like this in a relatively short period of time... I am glad she didn't make it to the White House. We will just have to stay tuned for more of the Hillary Clintoon.

Today Switzerland announced that it would join the European Union's passport-free zone, December 12th, though it will remain unattached as a bloc member. Now any terrorist group or military force can slide right in without so much as a handshake. There is a reason why Britain,
Cyprus, and Ireland (who are EU members) have opted for a "zone defense". Maybe Switzerland should go talk to them.

Georgia and Minnesota are our two hopes in keeping our nation's Checks and Balances system in place. Already the Democrats control the House and Senate, however, if they win the last two senate seats they will be an impregnable force. The GOP will not be allowed to filibuster legislation presented on the floor of the Senate by the Democrats (no matter how lame or costly). Minnesota's GOP Senator, Norm Coleman, is in a tight race with his challenger, Al Franken. The problem is not that the ballot count dilemma may head to the courts...but, rather that the final say could end up in the Democratic majority Senate. Hmmm, I wonder how that will fly? The old saying about the fox guarding the hen house comes to mind.

Note: Ballots should not be subject to interpretation by anyone who has a stake in the election's outcome.

Tomorrow Is Thanksgiving 2008...American's Are Truly Blessed.

In spite of the depressing events around the globe, we can always find something to be thankful for in America. Every single day I see someone who is worse off than me physically, financially, or spiritually. If we see someone limping, at least he/she is walking. If we see someone in a wheelchair, at least they are getting out. You get the idea. Two years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm a survivor! I don't look at the trivial things in life quite the same. This experience has lead me to loftier goals and focused me on things requiring a greater sense of urgency. Tomorrow, whether you are gathered around a turkey or a TV dinnner...take time to count your blessings, celebrate your achievements, set new goals, and make plans to be with someone over the upcoming holiday season. It can be with friends, family, or strangers you have chosen to "cheer up" in a hospital or nursing home setting. America is still a wonderful place to live, especially if everyone is doing their part continually. Happy Thanksgiving!

Note: Perform at least two acts of kindness every single day. Make sure one of them is for you.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Hey, Russia! They Don't Call Us The United States For Nothing.

The sharks are circling and the propaganda is beginning. Igor Panarin (professor and Russian scholar) is predicting that the United States' current financial crisis will lead to the breakup of the country, into six (or seven) regions. The Pacific, the South, the Atlantic coast, central states, northern states, Texas (I thought they were their own country), and thrown into the "mix of six" is Alaska, which he feels could become another Russian territory. Yes, they have picked out their own piece of real estate. If Sarah Palin can see them...they can see her, Tina Fey...Ahem. Let me ask you America, which country would you trust to be your ally? Russia? Venezuela? China? Get the picture? Russian warships sailed into Venezuela's port today to rattle sabres clearly meant for the United States. Apparently, the Kremlin is angry over the United States' decision to send warships, delivering aid to Georgia after its conflict with Russia, and their plans for a missile-defense system in Europe. President Dmitry Medvedev's visit coincides with the naval presence. We need to keep our eye on the ball and watch the bases. Washington needs monitoring and so does the rest of the world. Real life presents more twists and turns than any video game. My fellow Americans, we got snookered by our own press during this past election. Let's not fall prey to foreign propaganda next. President Abraham Lincoln felt a portion of this biblical quote inspirational enough to include in his own "House Divided" speech. From the Bible, Matthew 12:25 (King James Version): "And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand". Even though Lincoln was talking about the slavery issue at the time, I feel this segment of his speech is appropriate for any occasion which formulates (either founded or unfounded) the possibility of division. "I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other." Even if you did not vote for President-elect Obama (I did not) you must admit he has been dealt a hand with the cards clearly stacked against him. He has, by now, been totally immersed in matters pertaining to the "State of the Union". His wide eyed optimism has been replaced with a reality check. Obama has to hit the ground running and that will require every American's support. If you have a plan to make America stronger you should share it. Stop gathering in grumbling "clicks" and know that some foreign countries are looking to us as an example. Let's not let Washington run over our personal freedoms, but let's not help foreign foes feel like we are easy pickings.

Note: Voiced perception can be diliberate deception.

Even If The News Media Said They Were Sorry...We Could Only Agree

Washington Post ombudsman, Deborah Howell wrote, "Readers have been consistently critical of the lack of probing issues coverage and what they saw as a tilt toward Democrat Barack Obama. My surveys... show that they are right on both counts." Futher disclosure, by Ms. Howell, conveyed that over the past year the following discoveries were made: Obama-centered stories outweighed reports on John McCain 946 to 786; The Post featured more photos and front-page stories on Senator Obama; and running mates were not exempt from the imbalance. When readers voiced opinions about the two vice-presidential candidates being "scrutinized" unevenly Howell said, "They are right; it was a serious omission." Now, before we get all misty eyed let's let her words continue to flow. Some readers complain that coverage is too poll-driven. They're right, but it's not going to change. Well, she did her job as the ombudsman...a little too late. Please don't mistake her revelation reporting as an apology for the shoddy coverage. It most certainly isn't. How can the news people redeem themselves? They can't. The ones who have allowed themselves to become tainted are toxic and their credibility shot. Mel Baker wrote "Our “Freedom of Speech” becomes a useless exercise, if our fellow citizens have nowhere to turn for objective, contextual fact telling, so they can arrive at the truth of a matter on their own." Are we merely to say what's done is done? We can not. Hopefully, we will seek other (more reliable) sources in the future, withdraw our patronage from disreputable publications (along with television and radio news stations), and not be so blind the next time...if there is a next time.

Note: Sometimes a person or group can say, "I'm sorry." And sometimes all one can say in return are so right.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Georgia Democrats...America Needs You To Vote Republican To Save Checks And Balance System

Okay, maybe you squeaked by in U.S. History class, however, you must have at least heard of the Checks and Balances system in America. When the three branches of government were set in place, the purpose was to eliminate any of them from becoming too powerful. The EXECUTIVE BRANCH (Presidential) could veto a law passed by Congress. The LEGISLATIVE BRANCH (Congress) could, with a two-thirds vote from both houses (House of Representatives and the Senate) override the President's veto. The JUDICIAL BRANCH (Supreme Court) could "check" Congress by declaring a law unconstitutional. Since Congress has to approve the President's judicial appointees, to the Supreme Court, the power is balanced. WHEW! I PROMISE THERE WILL BE NO TEST. This "spot-on" quote was penned by John Emerich Edward Dalber Acton (moralist and historian) in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887. Baron Acton wrote: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely..." We now have a Democrat in the White House and a Democratic majority in Congress. President-Elect Obama can appoint anyone he wishes to the Supreme Court. Is Congress going to check him? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, has held off scheduling votes already until "it becomes clear" certain measures can pass the Senate, where it would need a vote of 60 Senators (a supermajority).

THE HUFFINGTON POST wrote: WASHINGTON — Democrats broadened their control of Congress, though in the Senate they fell short of the 60 votes needed for a filibuster-proof majority that would have given them almost unbridled power over legislation.

The Democrats still have hope. Currently, Minnesota is in the midst of a recount and Alaska just lost a Republican Senator unfortunately to corruption...neither party is immune. This is where Georgia Democrats can literally save America's backside. The State of Georgia will be having a run-off election, December 2nd. Okay, the Republicans got spanked this past election, however, if you seek total may snuff out America's last hope to maintain the equilibrium it so desperately requires. I am making a plea to Georgia Democrats to vote Republican just this once...and think through all that hangs in the "balance".

Note: One election should not mean victory for one party at the cost of lost freedoms for all Americans...but this one just could.

Reality Politics...There's Nothing Like It

Today everyone wants to be in the inner circle of knowledge about stars (famous and has-been), the rich and famous, world figures, and politicians. People simply can not get enough of them so they buy magazines, copy their fashion looks, try to act aloof (when they would dearly love to meet them), and yes, even swoon over them (Barbara Walters). Reality television has scored big...although I wish Tori Spelling would disappear from my screen; one commercial of her is all I can take...I digress. Of the aforementioned grouping, I follow the political crowd. Not because I want to live in their world, but rather because they have entered mine. I would prefer to live my life doing my job, loving my family, worshiping at my church, and enjoying my rights as an American citizen. But, things don't always work out as planned. Hints of human rights in jeopardy keep me on the edge of my ever-blogging seat. Media distortions cause me to go outside of the United States realm for news coverage, to get the real scoop on matters that really matter. One word whispered across a table can be deafening when picked up by the press. So I read, I listen, I pray, and I blog. No longer can we let "celebrity gazing", video games, cell phones, movies, sporting events, or whatever else occupies our time be the essence of our existence. They are distractions from occurrences in the world around us. If we don't budget time for serious reading and reflection, there is a problem. If we select a path of blissful ignorance, we are bound to be clueless. Please remember, your free time choices may be sabotaging your freedoms.

Note: When we were children we were easily distracted from serious matters. Just how much has changed in adulthood?

America, Let's Play Fill-In-The-Blanks!

Millions of people love to play word games. Let's see if you can tell what is missing. We'll start off with the category of MUSIC FOR 100.
We wish you a Merry _________. We wish you a Merry _________. We wish you a Merry _________ and a Happy New Year!
How did you do? Okay, now for a harder one. The Hallelujah Chorus is also called Handel's M______.
Let's try a good old fashioned patriotic song now. G__ b____ America, land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans, white with foam G__ b____ America, my home sweet home. G__ b____ America, my home sweet home.
Let's try PLEDGES FOR 300. What is the missing word from the pledge below? Oh...there seems to be more than a word missing...why, it's practically vanishing.

"I p______ a__________ t__ t___ f____ o__ t___ U______ S_______ o__ A_______ a___ t__ t___ R________ f___ w_____ i__ s______, o___ n______u____ G___, i___________, w___ l______ a__ j______ f__ a__."

The following article segment is from the Associated Press.
Nov. 14, 2008 03:04 PM Associated Press
WOODBURY, Vt. - No one is sure when daily recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance fell by the wayside at Woodbury Elementary School. But efforts to restore them have erupted into a bitter dispute in this town of about 800 residents, with school officials blocking the exercise from classrooms over concerns that it holds children who don't participate up to scorn.
Game over! America, it's time to get serious about our rights and freedoms before the next generation is incapable of filling in the blanks. =============================================
Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a
redress of grievances.

Automakers Caught Between A Rock And A Hard Place...And A Harder Place

The automakers (AKA "The Big 3") are truly caught between a rock and hard place... and a harder place (Congress). Let's cut the crap and tell it like it is. The automaker executives would dearly love to renegotiate the contracts, but The UAW keeps their grips tight, like a nooses around their necks. A glimmer of hope is going to emerge only by having the inevitable talks with bankruptcy lawyers (the rock). Now, if they go to the table for such discussions, and consumers get wind of it, they feel it will turn prospective buyers away because of fears that their companies won't be able to provide valid warranties, offer replacement parts, etc. (the hard place). Congress is so tightly woven in the UAW that they won't throw the automakers a lifeline for fear it will rock the boat of power. After all, they played a big part in President-elect Obama's victory. There is a possibility that Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors sincerely don't know how to go about making up the game plan...the one that Pelosi and her henchmen seek. You see, it is my humble opinion that they would dearly love to hand-carry the 25 billion to their doorstep. It is getting uncomfortable for Pelosi's gang because they can't get involved without showing their hand. Trust me, the Democrats do not want the automakers to go into bankruptcy status. I suggest the executives hire Mitt Romney as a consultant to dispel the fears surrounding Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, give them guidance, and perhaps courage. I know that asking the executives to help with this process is a little like having the "sentenced" sharpening the guillotine. People at the top are going to be fired and that equates to heads rolling...probably starting with their's.

Note: Shun deception at the conception.

Obama Owes The Biggest Favor To...

There is a French saying which expresses a sentiment "the more that changes, the more it's the same thing" (Merriam-Webster's online dictionary). Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose is frequently shortened to plus ça change. I guess we could throw in one of our good old American standbys, as well...history repeats itself. Either would suffice in President-elect Obama's choices of Washington insiders (to surround him) thus far. I'm still waiting for the "WOW-factor" to present itself. Merely having a discussion with Senator John McCain failed to provide it. Now, put him in the cabinet, or leave Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State and you've got something! Every time someone enters the White House they do so with certain guidelines in place. It is how one carries out these day-to-day tasks that truly sets one apart. So far we have an incoming president who owes so many favors that he can not bring himself to change. Just remember one thing. You owe no greater favor than to the people you now represent. Sir, if you do right by the American people you will not only seek another term, you'll see another the White House.

Note: A politician owes no greater favor than to the people he/she represents.

Motown Revisited

On November 8th, I blogged about the moaning Motown automakers. I wish that readers would revisit my earlier stance and tack on these tidbits. I still think that, for the time being, congress should overlook a monopoly status and force the Big-3 automobile companies to form a Tri-Merger. In our current condition, America can not sustain three separate companies. The Unions should be kicked out and contracts renegotiated while under bankruptcy status. Laborers need to understand that their salaries need to be cut to be competitive and that if there is no company, they will have more than wage reduction to worry about. Next it is time to trim the fat...the executives. Need I say more about them? I am in favor of bailout money being issued in the form of a trust fund (not controlled by anyone remotely tied to the automobile industry) to secure pensions of retirees, God love them. These people did their jobs, paid their dues, and were the supports for a large portion of our economy through the years. Truly, we are in jeopardy of committing crimes against the elderly if we lead them on a "Trail of Tears". the right thing.

President Obama Is Showing Wisdom

Today President-elect Barack Obama met with Senator John McCain in Obama's transition office, located in Chicago, to discuss America's future...and I'm sure Senator McCain's. Also in attendance were Rahm Emanuel (newly anointed White House Chief of Staff) and Republican Senator (and McCain's close friend) Lindsey Graham. Now, the press has never shied away from being "Masters of the Obvious" so when one member asked if Senator McCain planned to help the Obama administration, John McCain replied, "Obviously." There had never been any doubt in my mind that both candidates loved America. With me, it has always been about politics. It is like placing a child in the care of adoptive parents. Some are extremely qualified and some "will do". When you've got a problematic child on your hands then you hope and pray that the more qualified parent will emerge. Someone firm, understanding, protective, and opposed to coddling.
The new president will have to stand firm on issues concerning the country's best interest, even when his party wants him to buckle. The new president will have to be understanding of issues below the surface layers, right down to the "common" core. The new president must be willing to protect our freedoms even if one of them causes him discomfort (like freedom of speech). The new president must be an advocate for those who are willing to work and learn, yet understand that those who wish to "freeload" deserve to be kicked to the curb. If our president will inspire then present and future generations will aspire... to be more than just welfare recipients. America has been filled with factions, each acting like an only child. Today he chose to bring in a rival, Senator McCain, to help "shore up" a nation. Indeed, it was a wise move. This country is going to need the wisdom of all and the foolishness of none. I will continue to pray that President Obama will be just what America needs.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it.

In Four Years We Could...

I was alarmed by a comment one of my young relatives made today. He basically said that if we did not like what the new President (and Congress) did in this administration, we could change it in four years. I'm quite sure I gasped. Of course I had a snappy comeback and said that I just hoped we could. The rest of the conversation is a blur. Now, many young people think that the world is moving at the pace they are...but that's not true. It is churning out ideological drivel daily and grinding down our core belief system, at a parallel pace. Maybe I can put the span of four years into something discernable to the youth of America. In four years one can do the following: pay off a car loan, learn to play an instrument, get a college diploma, write a novel (and its sequel), and build a business. Those who purport certain ideologies want the population to embrace change in the norms of society. Snap-out-of-it! For too long we have treated America's lazy as disabled, and the result of our being "enablers" is that we have generations of them. For too long we have let whining activists rip at the threads of our religious rights claiming that their little darlings are traumatized. I say let them start their own private schools (and give them vouchers)! That's one tax I'd flip a penny into. People who support (or fall into) these two areas are the bane of America's existence. President-Elect Obama needs to step up to the plate and keep his eye on something bigger than the nation's voters...its children. Even his own are going to have to live in the country if we change for the worst.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Condoleezza Rice Should Stay...In A "Changed" Administration

I think Condoleezza Rice should be Obama's Secretary of State. This business of transitioning for the sake of transitioning doesn't make sense in lieu of the current upheaval in the world. She would add experience, continuity, and "change". It would show a true bipartisan effort on President-Elect Obama's part. He wouldn't even have to choose between Hillary and Kerry. Oh, I know that this would be too much to ask for, especially since the decision would send both candidates (in the running) into a tailspin. Besides...he owes favors. I am, however, just wondering when the "revelation" of actual change will manifest itself. So far he seems to be courting the "insiders". Indeed he is going to have to think outside of the box to "PLUMBLINE AMERICA"...and reach outside of the PARTY to bring its people back together.

MSNBC Crawls Out Of Africa

Vetting is (for this blog's purpose) scrutinizing, examining, and evaluating a source prior to presenting sensitive information, divulged by the individual. Apparently, MSNBC ran an unvetted story on their network, during the presidential race for the White House, about Governor Sarah Palin, the GOP Vice Presidential candidate, in the 2008 Election... and it was false. Oh, shock and dismay! Now, evidently they were "hoodwinked" into believing that one of John McCain's advisers was indeed the culprit, who leaked the tidbit, that Governor Palin had "mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent" (FOX NEWS). A producer handed-off the information to David Schuster (anchorman) to report on the air. Jeremy Gaines (network spokesman) was quoted as saying, "We recognized the error almost immediately and ran a correction on air within minutes." Is anyone buying that story? I prefer my own. It goes something like this...They got it. They salivated. They schemed. They decided to use it...and then, after the damage was done...retract it. After all, a story like that would spread like a wildfire, which no retraction could extinguish. The 2008 campaign was run under the grimiest of conditions, starting with the media. It is interesting to note that MSNBC was reported as a victim. Before we get misty-eyed here, let's have a reality check. The only victim here is Sarah Palin! Has Dan Rather's fall from grace taught them nothing? Oh well, evidently all you have to say is "sorry" and all is forgiven.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Note: I work in a public school setting and I am seeing the negative effects of corruption via the media, politicians, and ACORN-types, on our young people. Maybe President-Elect Obama can work on restoring honesty in America. Our children can only raise or lower the bar based on what they observe.

Hank Is Looking Harried!

Henry Paulson (Treasury Secretary) spoke to reporters today, apparently acknowledging through his "newer" plan, what many in the financial sector have said from the beginning...using taxpayer money to purchase toxic assets isn't the wisest course of action. He stammered over his words as he relayed a "capital" injection procedure designed to revive banks in return for a federal grubstake. This morning revelation was to give a little accountability on the $700 billion TARP money.

Paulson defensively said: Well, let me get to the -- what we -- what we said to Congress was we needed a financial rescue package because the credit markets were stopped up and we were focused on the problem and the -- and when we went to Congress, illiquid assets looked like the way to go. As the situation worsened, the facts changed. The thing I'm grateful for is we were prescient enough and Congress was that we got a wide array of authorities and tools under this legislation. And I will never apologize for changing an approach or a strategy when the facts change. I think the apology should come the other way, if someone doesn't change when the facts change. So we -- I think we moved quickly, we moved powerfully to address the situation as it -- as it exists.

Whew! That was poignant. Now when he used the word prescient, was he going for definition 1.) human prediction of the course of events or 2.) divine omniscience? I just wish he had worked that mojo a little earlier in the crisis. Oh well, at least he is taking suggestions. I guess we should cut him some slack since he is showing signs of fatigue or guilt or both. No one in his/her right mind wants the czar of our economy to be wrong...except maybe our enemies. How is that investigative report coming? You know, the one that is to disclose the paper trail and the unscrupulous types on Wall Street, via the FBI? Obviously, they too thought they were prescient.

May God bless America...and may America deserve it!

Inaugural Ticket Scalping Gets More Attention Than Voter Fraud

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-California) is formulating a bill, hoping to make scalping tickets for the January 20th inauguration a federal crime. She is busy drafting up the legislation for the lame duck session, which meets next week, in hopes that this injustice will carry both a misdeameanor charge and a "yet-to-be-determined" fine. Senator Feinstein, could you throw another coal on the congressional session fire? Maybe the Democrats could direct just a little bit of its attention toward punishing those who registered multiple times before the election. Oh, and how is that ACORN thing going? Well, whenever you get around to it is fine...I guess. We are, after all, only talking about a violation against one of our rights in America and it is hard to compete with a social event, huh?

May God bless America...and may America deserve it.

Sarah Palin Should Snub Oprah

Since Oprah didn't have to have the IV drip afterall, she finally has the energy to address Sarah nice. Sarah Palin should stay as far away from Winfrey as possible. You see, people like Oprah can not stand it if they are not beloved. However, they don't mind snubbing. "O." doesn't miss the loss of revenue...she's a billionaire. What she can't stand is the loss of her "pedestal status" which millions of people, myself included, kicked her off of when she refused to interview Palin on her show (until after the election). I don't fault the woman for supporting Senator Obama, but I do take exception to her dragging politics into a supposedly neutral arena where women's successes and heartaches flow as freely as wine at an Italian dinner. I sincerely hope Governor Palin returns the kindness, shown by Ms. Winfrey, and declines any invitation to the Oprah Show...until the 2012 election is over. One should never choose when to separate business from politics. You either do it...or you don't.

May God Bless America!

Saying It Doesn't Make It So

Freedom of Speech (First Amendment) was never meant to protect individuals spewing out slanderous rhetoric (verbal defamation) or using libelous writings/pictures (written defamation). It is amazing that Americans have fallen into a paparazzi mentality and actually feel entitled to every facet of anyone's life. Maybe American's should "get a life"! Children and their adolescent problems should be off limits...enough said about that. If someone is a politician they truly have some explaining to do with regard to their own inappropriate actions and words, however, to whom should they explain it? There are, afterall, "verbal guerillas" who engage in warfare via harassment and personality sabotage. They duck in-and-out of the shadows lobbing strategically timed and placed comments leaked to the "appropriate" individual(s), hoping to elicit a negative response. They are rarely disappointed. Do they think they are soldiers of justice? Just the opposite is true. They are cowards (without honor) who evade counter-remarks, questions, and responsibility for their actions. They vilify without giving their victims an opportunity to nullify. Accusers, declare yourselves and let the record show that either someone is guilty as charged...or you are liars.

Let's Talk Motown...Cars Not Music

While Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford are trying to sharpen their pitch for a government bailout, Wall Street style, they should consider another accompaniment...a tri-merger. The days of old where the market was driven by the unwritten motto "THE BIGGER THE BETTER" leads one to wonder why they were not also sending their researchers out (seriously) looking for alternative fuels, while their designers were (also seriously) crafting vehicles to run on them, decades ago. Just how long have we been talking about alternative fuels and dependence on foreign oil now? My dear old grandmother used to warn against putting all of one's eggs in one basket. In this case, I guess it's chassis. We the people are going to have to urge Congress to "get over" the monopoly fear...for now. The auto industry is hurting; until they are back on their feet (or die trying to stand) they should be allowed to work in a "tripartisan" manner. Moving right along, I know that activists abound protesting drilling, but let's throw a little competition into the mix. Maybe it is time for a "checks and balances" system elsewhere...besides Washington of course...Ahem. I never thought I would agree with Paris Hilton on anything, however, her off-shore drilling idea with environmental overseers coupled with incentives for Detroit automakers to make hybrid and electric cars, makes sense. I would expand on it and have an understanding (written of course) that the drilling would subside at a rate in keeping with alternative fuel availability (at a reasonable price) and auto manufacturing compliance to keep up! Basically, each of the three groups (drillers, environmentalists, and automakers)would monitor earnest initiative and report to a "tripartisan" senate committee made up of one Democrat, one Republican, and one Independent (Joe Lieberman). We've got to start thinking outside of the box. We've been boxed in too long and it's crippling us! MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Note: A "tripartisan" effort is exactly the same as a bipartisan one...except you have one more partisan. Lol.

Joe Lieberman May Have More Clout...When Out

Senator Joe Lieberman (Independent-Connecticut) met with majority leader, Harry Reid (Nevada), today on Capital Hill to discuss Lieberman's fate. Both are mulling over their options, however, the truth is simply...Lieberman doesn't need them. Oh, sure he won't be invited to as many parties and he has to tolerate chides, but he may just have the sweetest gig in all of Washington. His words are certainly music to many American's ears: "As you all know, the people of Connecticut were good enough to re-elect me to the United States Senate in 2006 as an independent. And so I have tried since then to view the decisions that I make here in the Senate not through a partisan lens, but rather from the perspective of what I believe is right and best for my country and my state. We have just finished an historic election. As you know, I decided in that election that partisanship should take a back seat to doing what, in this case, I believed was best for our country." Lieberman has transcended typical Washington expectations by triumphing over the restrictive aspects of being just a member of a party. Literally he has "morphed" into America's ideal candidate. Now, the Democrats want to think they have the upper hand on this one, but I would like to offer a word of caution. Joe Lieberman will add credibility to any legislation (either side of the aisle) needed to be passed. He can mediate between parties with more hope of successful compromise. Additionally, his "independent status" doesn't leave either party (Democratic or Republican) vulnerable should they want a topic broached...and he be willing to fight for the cause. Yes, Joe's status (and influence) just may be the bane of the Democrats. We can only pray that other politicians will follow his example, especially since they have all (Democrats and Republicans alike) been weak life-forms in their stewardship of America. Joe Lieberman may well be the first "Super Senator"!

Congratulation, President-Elect Obama

May I start by saying that, as a caucasian, I will never fully realize the significance of having an African American President in the White House. It is a symbolic end to a journey which started from unthinkable and deplorable conditions and progressed through seemingly insurmountable odds. Even though I did not vote for you (it was strictly politics) you are soon to President. Only a fool would wish failure on their nation's leader so I will pray for you and Senator Biden as I would have for John McCain and Sarah Palin. It will be a difficult road you travel and you will have to play the hand our nation has dealt you. Secrets will be unveiled that will startle and, perhaps, frighten you. You will recall that Vice President Harry Truman never knew about the atomic bomb until he became the President, after Roosevelt's death (because Roosevelt disliked him). Throngs of special interest groups with agendas (many hidden) will try to manipulate you. Woodworkers have an old saying: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE. You are, after all, attempting to build a stronger nation than you inherited. Seek wise counsel before you cut spending or increase it, shake up people's lives or devastate them, or implement a law or revoke it. Make sure each short-term goal is leading toward a long-term solution. Remember to hug your wife and kids often for they will keep you focused. After all, it will be easier to face an adversary when you are right than your children when you are wrong. This is a blog of hope. I hope you will lead and make all Americans proud. Pray for are going to need it every day. May God bless America.

I Voted Early So I Had A Wonderful Day

I voted early (late October) so today I had a wonderful day. Public schools were out in our county and I didn't have to go to work. My husband and I had a picnic while looking at a serene woodland view in ideal weather conditions. We stopped by a nearby polling station to record history with our cameras smiling at the long line, for two reasons. The first was totally selfish; we did not have to stand in it. The second was an expression of joy that Americans have the right to vote without fear of intimidation (minus a few episodes like the one in Philadelphia where a uniformed Black Panther, with a night stick, was asked to leave by local authorities). Moving right along...I got my hair cut, took a nap, and ended my day making my favorite blackberry pie. I can smell it now. It will either be a pie to celebrate my candidate's victory or comfort food. My husband asked me if I was going to stay up to watch the election returns and I told him I was not. I have blogged, encouraged apathetic acquaintances to vote, and shamed my lazy friends into standing in long lines (especially since they procrastinated). I have done all I can and, win or lose, I am going to get a good night's sleep. I'll wake up refreshed and able to face whatever tomorrow brings. Oh, my pie! I've got to run. May God bless America.

A Few Words About Our Nation and Our Next President

It is the eve of the big day...the 2008 Election. Everyone, including myself, has put their two cents in trying to make people see why one candidate deserves to be a winner over the other. I vote every election year; sometimes it is for a Republican and sometimes it is for a Democrat, but always it is for America. I (still) pledge allegiance to the flag...because I know that it is the symbol of our nation, with all its freedoms, flaws, and determination to be the beacon of democracy. The "melting pot" of races and ideologies has not always "smithed" well, thus leaving some to stand out and add cracks to the "casted" composition. But the image clearly remains. It is one of a country trying to be united and do what is right no matter what is thrown in its path. Religion has always been a big part of my life and it will always remain. Whether people believe their is a Higher Power or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is the moral good that this belief does for our country. It brings charity, compassion, hope, and an open mind to differences. The rational world is watching (and praying) that America stands stronger and more united in times of adversity. They too want to see charity, compassion, hope and open-mindedness in their respective nations. Whoever becomes the next President of the United States will be scrutinized all around the world for his abilities to unite our people and endeavors to preserve our freedoms. It is a daunting task which will, hopefully, cause him to work in a bipartisan manner because stepping into the oval office should be a transformation. He should be blind to the three Cs: color, colleagues, and creed preferene. He (and some day she) will take an oath of office and wear a symbolic cloak of authority which will carry a weight too heavy to bear, unless he seeks the counsel of advisors possessing wisdom and not agendas. You must remember that Americans are the only ones you owe allegiance to. If you keep that in mind...History will so record.

Norman Rockwell's America (and Franklin D. Roosevelt's) Is Vanishing

Even if individuals are unfamiliar with the name, Norman Rockwell, few are unaware of his famous illustrations of everyday life in America. Within his collection, my favorites are the Four Freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom From Fear, and Freedom From Want, which has become the symbol for times of holiday celebration with friends and family. Rockwell's inspiration was from a speech given by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Old Democratic Party when reason triumphed) in the State of the Union Address he delivered to Congress. These four points were basic freedoms that FDR felt humans "everywhere in the world" ought to possess. Let's hope that Americans can "plumb line" back to a morally acceptable place, starting from Congress and radiating outward, so that our freedoms in the Constitution are preserved not just on paper...but also in practice.

There's Still Time For Some To Change...Their Minds

Okay, some of you have been rushed to vote for "change" without knowing what the changes were...exactly. Why would anyone not take the time to investigate a candidate with as many negative "issues" brought to the forefront? If a person had an undesirable friend or "acquaintance" wouldn't society voice disapproval? And, if that same individual seemed to have a history of "hanging" with the wrong crowd...well, you get my point. Why then would anyone not have the same disdain toward someone running for the highest office in America? What's done, is done. I will have to turn my attention to those who still have time (and the vote) to make a difference in this election. Let's move on to my next point. Obama is slowing down on his pie in the sky rhetoric and starting to talk in simple terms. Simply put, the "go-to guy" can't deliver what he promised...or was that eluded to? Isn't it interesting to note that in a year's time the middle class has dropped from more than $250,000 to $200,, $150,000 (Senator Biden), $120,000 (New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson on KOA-AM). My fellow Americans, with inflation in the mix, those under $25,000 will be considered middle class in no time, for tax purposes. I loved a memo pad I saw sitting on an Army Officer's desk which had in bold letters SAY IT IN WRITING. Maybe Senator Obama didn't get that memo pad. Could he just write down the amount and thus avoid all of this confusion? Yes, he could, but then Americans would have a real grasp of his plans...and that wouldn't be a good thing for him or his party. Evasiveness is his ally. Moving right along, I'm not happy Senator Obama has stated that John McCain and Sarah Palin have made "a virtue out of selfishness". This statement was on the heels of his disbelief that they thought his ideas were socialistic. Well, they are! Now, I am offering one last opportunity toward redemption if your vote has already been cast, but not for the right person. Confess to your friends and coworkers that you have made a mistake. Maybe you can undo what you have done by soliciting one or more counter votes. You can honestly say that your vote was cast before full disclosure of Obama's intentions... which will never come until after the election. Yes, it will be slightly (to extremely) embarassing, however, I would rather face my friends and acquaintances now, than future generations who had to live with results, due to our pride, later. Do the right thing. May God Bless America!

Note: We should never be rooting for a candidate; it should always be for America.

Obama Puts The Brakes On The Expectation Train

An interesting article appeared on the London Times' website, TimesOnline. The headline reads: Barack Obama Lays Plans To Deaden Expectation After Election Victory. Now, the web address is lengthy and you may have to write it down prior to entering it or flip back and forth between this site and a new one to enter it. Truly it is worth the frustration.

It appears senior advisers to Obama are putting the brakes on the "change train" preparing Americans to settle for less...much less actually than they were previously promised, should Obama win the election next week. Interestingly enough the camp has concerns that "euphoric supporters are harbouring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve" (London Times).
Now, why would they have unrealistic hopes? Hasn't he promised the "spread" of a lifetime to his following? It is fascinating to note that the Democratic push was for early voting while the iron was still hot...and the fantasy was still hovering. But alas, all good things (and yarns) must come to an end. Hopefully there are enough undecided and Democratic voters who "got the memo" before they got the ticket to ride...the train to nowhere.

Note: Maybe the old adage that "you can't see the forest for the trees" applies here. Evidently, you can see it from England.

While You Were Sleeping Just What Was Creeping?

There is nothing like a good old fashioned war to rouse America. 9-11 should have been a wake-up call, but Americans are prone to hitting the snooze button. People enjoy living in a dream-like state where all is well with the world and subversives, individuals who attempt to overthrow or undermine our government system secretly from within, keep at bay. Nightmares of 007 movies with moles, spies who operate against his/her (yes, there is equal opportunity) own government can be explained away over coffee with a friend or maybe at the water cooler with someone who lives a "normal life". They may or may not be a sleeper, living under a fabricated name, waiting for the moment he/she can move up to a corporate position or into a sensitive government post, to acquire information for their government (which is not the United States). Meanwhile millions will be lulled by propaganda, ideas or allegations deliberately spread throughout the land to hamper the cause of freedom. They will snore through the liberal exploits and distortions by yellow journalists only to soon discover that they have overslept. When they finally slide into their slippers they will find out that it is too late to go to work.
